Default Engine ticking *VIDEO*

Hey guys, I've been having a ticking sound that is audible at idle and picks up in frequency as the RPM's build. Billman changed my cracked retainers and did a valve adjustment, but we still couldn't figure out what was causing this sound.

Our latest conclusion has brought us to a possible spun bearing. Take a look at the video and tell me what your initial impressions are. Thanks guys

Its not a scorerd cylinder from the sound of it revving. (I had a bad scored cylinder on my old engine.) To me it does sound like a spun bearing. I would drop the oil pan and do an inspection and check everything out. Also check for metal shavings in the bottom of the oil pan. Might be time for a new shortblock.

Yeah I was hoping it wasn't going to need a new short block. Replacing that is already half the car's value lol.

Yep I feel for you man. I had my s2000 less than a year before I had to replace the shortblock. Previous owner apparently didnt check the oil level enough.

how much did the short block + labor end up costing you? I'm estimating around $3000 for a good job.

Well I bought the shortblock off a member on here for $1500 shipped to me. I did all the work myself on jackstands in my driveway. Pain in the @ss but that was my only option at the time. I replaced all the gaskets with new ones and everything. All said and done I spent at least $2000 doing it myself. Also if you do it yourself, its very smart to use something as fender covers, they saved my fenders life. I also borrowed a cherry picker from a friend, so I didnt have to spend money on one. Here are just a couple pics to show.

And here is what caused it all.

is that huge lizard in the 2nd pic real??!!
