Engine Stutter, Cutout and General unhappyness
Hi All,
I have a 04 S2K, EU Model, and its started to stutter but not a missfire, more like its cutting all spark/gas for a few milliseconds and then resuming.
If I happen to clutch and coast at the same time as the stutter the engine cuts out completely.
Its also refused to start at least twice and after I leave it for a few minutes it will start but stutter.
At least once the engine has refused to rev above 3K stuttering heavily.
Issue is persistent with Full / Low gas. Wet / Dry Conditions. Warm / Cold engine.
The Honda Workshop checked the engine for error codes but none were reported. So I am suspecting it could be fuel starvation.
I will have the filters checked tomorrow.
Has anyone else had similar issues which resulted in no error code?
What components can I suspect in non-error code producing scenarios?
Fuel Pump?
Gas Filters?
Ignition Coils?
Grounding Issue?

dirty injectors?
Possible on the fuel pump, but that isn't at the top of my list.
Coils, I kinda doubt, as a misfire is definitely a CEL.
The cuts out completely (I'm assuming the engine STOPS) is a sign of it not getting electrical supply, so I'd check the battery and/or alternator. The reason the car doesn't cut out when the clutch is engaged is because the forward motion of the car is restarting it. Bad ground can do that too. You have an amp installed, or anything else tapping the battery?

Im running the car completely stock. Original radio too. Wouldn't alternator / battery / grounding issues report a CEL? Since there would definitely be voltage fluctuations for it to react on.
The times when the car has not started its been turning and not sounding like a run-down battery. So that leads me towards Spark and Fuel issue.
Ill add the injectors, battery and alternator to the check-list. Grounding is probably a basterd to check right? Or just the main grounding cables of the battery and engine?

There is only so much it could be. I'd pull the plugs and see what they look like. No way that you are not getting codes on this. Check the fuel trims.
If that truly is the case then it can only be the ECU-If you had VSA, I would suspect that.

Hi guys,
So my car has been in the shop for a week now. and the mechanics found the problem to be with the immobilizer aswell as a grounding issue. So we will see after the replacement is installed if all is well!
They also found that the dealer had installed a generic crappy oil filter which would not have held long!

Update,
So more issues have been found on my car.
Wrong Oil Pan ( Part number is wrong and a hole has been drilled in it to make it fit )
Oil and Water Bypass Hoses Cut and Blocked off!!!
Seems like the car dealer will resolve this, but I wonder what kind of damage the car could have sustained not having its bypass hoses connected.
Does anyone know the bypass hoses purposes?

Follow up,
The engine stutter has mostly resolved after securing all earthing points on for the engine.
I still have immobilizer issues which will hopefully be resolved by the dealer though. :/
