Default Engine Still making a ticking sound after changing to Billmans

Car is AP1 '02
I'm not sure what it is, but I just noticed it this morning.

I've already got billmans TCT in, and did a fresh change of AMSOIL.

Not sure if it's a standard sound but it must be coming from or around the engine.

Only audible when running past 2300+ ish rpms.

I did a quick test, it still does it while moving when I clutch in and rev to 3k.

Any suggestions? may next step would be to check valves

does it do it all the time? or does do it only when you start it? Billman has two different TCT's 3rd GEN and 4th GEN. You might need his 4th GEN TCT. Make sure IT IS the TCT and not something else.

check your oil pressure and do a valve adjustment, lets hope its not a bearing noise

Welcome to the AP1 s2000.... Mine ticked like crazy. Found a ton of cracked retainers. 9/16. I am third owner lol. My first step was billman TCT, it cut a ton of noise out. (the guy sold it at 65k for 10.5k because he thought the motor was close to popping, note i put to 95k before i had any real issues). As the valves dip from the cracked retainers, the valve train noise will get louder as the gaps increase. (anyone who doesn't agree can bite my ass because i have experience this first hand.) I HEAVILY recommend check the damn retainers. and while you are there put the AP2 ones in.

Step 1, determine if your noise is in fact TCT NOISE

My TCT will cure 100% of TCT noise, but it is not magic and people have been buying in hopes of curing any noise.

Bottom line, there are plenty of vids that distinctly show TCT noise. Compare your engine to them.

okay, it's not ticking crazy like that, but a low decibel tick if anything, or im just crazy paranoid.

But I must correct myself that it ticks when fully warmed up, when I was driving this morning on a cold engine it was noticeable until later

Have you had a valve adjustment? Exhaust leak? retainers?

The F20 isn't a quiet engine by any means either. The injectors are loud, the valves are loud (even when adjusted properly), and so on. Just the nature of the engine. But I would agree, check around for an exhaust leak and adjust your valves. You could also snag a stethoscope to track the specific location down.

Try replacing the LMA's. Yours is probably making the same noise as mine is and someone on here swears he fixed it by replacing them.
