Default Engine squeal at startup

This happens in the morning after the car has sit in the garage for 10-12 hrs and appears to happen at either warm or cold mornings.

I push the start button and the engine makes a squeaky/squeal like sound. Anybody able to provide advice on this issue?

Remove the serpentine belt and start the engine. You probably have a pulley bearing going bad. If so, you won't have the squeal and the belt will already be off so you can check the pulleys.

If it is a pulley bearing, what are the consequences of not changing it? Continued squeal on start-up or something worse?

If it is only making the sound at startup and goes away after couple minutes then I think it's just your drive belt is too old...
If it is the pulley bearing then it will be noisy all the time... my 2 cents...

Yes it only makes it at startup and it's only for a few seconds...2 to 3 secs. It goes away immediately after that and doesn't linger.

There is a startup squeel that is normal on the S. But it usually only happens when its cold out. But my car has done it in temps above 45. I believe as the starter wears it becomes more prevalent.
