Engine shuts down in 1st
I just purchased a used 2002 S2000 with 9K miles on it. They car is like new and runs great with one exception. Occasionally when punching the throttle in first gear and usually going around a corner the engine shuts down like it ran up against the rev limiter but more abruptly. It literally throws me forward until the seat belts catch me. The RPM's are no where close to the 9K rev limit. If I shift up to second it then runs fine. Is this a common problem or could there be a problem with a sensor or ECU. I can't seem to duplicate the problem intentionally, although I have not tried too hard.

Geez, you guys are harsh. No that's not the problem. I had it happen the other day at a stop light after 15 min on the freeway. I've got 25 years as a SCCA road racer and mechanic, I know better than to flog a car when its cold.

when you WOT in 1st gear WHILE going around a corner, will that cause you car to go bye bye into a barrier?
