Default Engine rpm goes down when A/C on

engine idle goes down really low and sometimes shuts off when a/c is on. What would cause this? checked vacuum leaks and none. would air pump under bumper cause this, if bad?

The belt tension could be too tight which would be the tensioners fault, or your A/C compressor is starting to go and causing excessive drag.

the tensioner is brand new...its ever since i rebuilt the motor, and put the new tensioner on.. it ran fine before with the a/c on.

Check the idle air control motor for proper operation.

It does sound like there is a vacuum leak of some sort, but do the adjustments and check the idle air control valve/clean it and if that does not work, take it to a s2k mechanic and see what they can do to resolve this issue

cleaned my IAC and then decided to change it..so i bought a brand new one. so i know thats working fine... I'll check all the vacuum lines again.....sux cause there is only 2 s2000's on island, and there is not a proper machanic here..all of the machanics think a s2000 is like a typeR or somthing...they dont understand..
anyways..going to check the vacuums and try a few other thigns.

It is definately the tensioner if you just put on a new one and it started having the problem.

I would take the tensioner off and reinstall, or it may be bad... sometimes that happens, though not often

my car has this problem too... i had the AC condenser off when i was dropping my tranny to change my clutch and when i put it back on and reassembled everything else my car has had this issue... if its idling and the AC kicks on it drops the RPM to REAL LOW and almost dies... did i tighten the belt too much?
