Can this be a DIY kinda thing? I'm somewhat mechanically inclined. Or would I be getting into something way over my head?
Since we don't know if you can walk and chew gum at the same time, ;-) that's a hard question to answer.

Do you have: shop manual, floor jack, jack stands, socket set, long extensions, etc.? If not, or if you have to ask what any of these are, then you're probably better off just taking it to a shop.

I'd want a place where I could leave the car up on the jack stands all weekend, since you never know how long it will take to do something the first time and I hate time pressure. Then there's the issue of getting the flywheel machined over the weekend...

I wouldn't want to do it without at least someone to help for about 1/2 hour operating the jack when putting the transmission back. It would be really nice to have a couple of extra pairs of hands for about 1/2 hour when wrestling the transmission back into place. But you only need some raw muscle for about 1/2 hour... You can probably find a way to install the transmission by yourself, but 1/2 hour of help at that time would make the job sooooooo much easier.

I've done it once, with just a few minutes help from my wife who operated the jack when I put the transmission back. I'd do it again if it needed to be done, for what that's worth.

I replaced my Civics clutch with and exedy stage1 and an ACT flywheel when my stuff went bad. Just to be safe. I had a buddy help me the whole time, he knew how to do it alot better. If you do it alone make sure you torque the bolts to the right specs.
