Engine replaced
Hi Guys, I just had my engine replaced and was wondering how long it normally takes for you to feel the "noticeable VTEC push".
A guy at Honda Service told me it takes a while before you can feel the vtec.
Any of you have had this experience? How many Km did you have to wait for the VTEC to feel right?
Any inputs would b greatly appreciated!
TIA!

So they gave you a new motor. Short block I would guess? You need to break it in just like the car was new again. So if you are Vtec'ing it already, and you have yet to get it to 600 miles. (See your owners manaul for the KM) you are being a bit hard on your new motor.
But I would think it shouldhave the Vtec kick the first time you hit it. Nothing technically is stopping it. That is unless they did not connect something right.

Thx Rick.
I noticed after a service (or oil change)... you have to drive a car for a few days before VTEC is 'pronounced'.
I was thinking it may be the same reason as the oil in my new engine is new.
Ive done about 500km so far I pushed it up 6800rpm a few times and cant feel VTEC :/

I couldnt feel vtec also on my STOCK s2k, it was very hard to feel/hear..
but after installing a CAI/exhaust. it was WAY more noticable!
try it in 5th gear on the highway going from 5500rpm to 6500, you should hear it better then!

it should be there. the only thing that i think would stop it is the car not being fully warm. mind you i didnt hit vtec till i got around maybe 1500 miles. but i had the car rev up to around 5k. the first time i did hit vtec i know it was there. try doing it with the top up and windows up. im sure youll hear it kick in.

if his car was hitting vtec, i'm sure he would have felt it... unless it wasn't WOT. I 3rd gear VTEC pull, such a nice gear to get up to speed going onto a highway. So try a WOT 3rd gear push after the car is completely warmed up and your new engine broken in. If there is no VTEC, there is a problem.

Thx guys for your inpuTs!
I just took the car in for a 1000km service and bought up the issue with the service guy. He said it is normal as the engine is "tight" when its new. He told me that I would have to wait till I've done 5000-7000km on the new engine for the VTEC to kick in.
Hope he knows what he is talking about.
