Well my noise is similar but I'm guessing we do not have the same problem because I did a compression test today and yielded (from back to front) 220, 220, 224, 221

After listening to the first audio sample that is EXACTLY the same sound I hear. It does not sound like the other clips. However, my compression is perfect.. I'm curious what you find to be the cause.

Hi guys,

Here is an update.

Since July, I've tried different things ;-)

First, I went to the garage and asked about the noise.
They advised me to change from oil and put something more fluid to see what happens.
So I've changed from 10W40 to 0W30.
And it solved the noise after 5000km.
Now after 20 000km more, the noise is coming back (but less volume) even with 0W30. But now it makes the noise even when the engine is hot ! (it was only when cold before the oil switch).

So I went again to my Honda garage.

The have changed the chain under warrenty ("chaine de distribution" in french, don't know the english word) and it took 6 hours to do this.
But it hasn't solved the sound problem.

Now, Honda is saying that this noise is not harmfull and that they won't do anything more. :-(
What is sure is that this noise will go luoder and louder by the time. I think it's coming from the top engine (valve train). And I think it's not harmfull but it may come harmfull byt the time going.
So I want Honda to solve the problem and I'll call them tomorrow to make it solved.

I'll keep you informed guys ! ;-)

I just noticed this same noise today. It is exactly the same noise. It sounds like it is coming from the valves (top of the block), and worse I only noticed it because I had smoke coming out my exhaust so I stopped and checked what was going on. Do you notice any smoke? I do not have a cat so any smoke is very visable. The wierd thing is that I turned off my car, checked my oil (was about a 1/4 quart low), filled it, and when I restarted there was no smoke. I took it for a test drive and it drove fine, but in about ten minutes the noise started again, but a little louder and I got a little more smoke.

I guess I will have a compression test done, but I would like to know what you found. I am guessing it is what billman250 said, because that would make sense that I have smoke.

Hi kinetica,

No, I don't have any smoke coming out.
But I still have my cat.
What is the color of your smoke ?

A lot of people having removed the cat get some bleue smoke sometimes. But It's normal and they don't have any noise or engine problem.
