Default Engine problem after engaging Vtec

hey, so i have a MY2000 with 98000km i was shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear at 7000rpm, as soon as i floored the 3rd gear engine cut for a second, and speed kept going down i couldnt accelerate. Simultaneously the check engine light kept flicking. Put it in 6th gear to lower rpm and starting accelerating slowly and was ok. Stopped the car and had no CEL code. Started off again shifted my gears at around 3K rpm, made it in 6th gear. While i was running 105KM my speedometer started incidcating that my speed was dropping but it wasnt, and suddenly it flashed back at the right speed...

What the hell could this be??

If you have low oil Vtec will not engage or it will disengage if the oil pressure ever gets low while in Vtec. I would start there.

P.S.- Do not skip shift (aka go from 3rd to 6th gear) this has been known to cause the syncro on 5th/6th gear to get burred up and can cause some issues getting into those gears.

How do you know there's no code? Did you have a scanner with you? If the CEL came on, even blinked, there's a code in there. Find out what it is.

Bad ground = momentary battery disconnect = ECU reset. I would have thought that more than just the CEL would flicker. Other dash lights should flicker as well.
