I can believe that - new oil will offer lower friction, thus the engine will feel freer. I just don't think I'd change my oil 50 times a year for that feeling.

As an aside, considering the Honda oil filter costs around $9, how are you changing your oil for $15 total?
That's what I want to know.

My Honda dealer charges $20 for an oil change.
I don't change the oil there, like I said I change the oil on my own. But if a dealer charges $20 why do you find it impossible to pay $15 if you do it on your own? Or do you expect the Honda delaer that charges $20 not to have a profit?

Maybe where you live they charge you $30 or more for oil change, but not where I live

Holy crap, I can't even buy oil for $20. M1 and cheapo WIX filter costs me at least $45 CAD. Even cheap dino oil is like $15 for 4 liters. And I live in oil country.

It may be expensive - but you don't need to change your oil every weekend here...

I don't need to change my oil every weekend either. But it's still cheaper than where you are to change the oil

So what's your point?

i change it twice a year and do about 8-9 k a year, i do it myself, in Kalifornia it costs me about $2.00 a quartfor names brand at costco and 6-9 for a filter...sometimes a NEW crush washer is used, every time a crush washer is used.
i haver only 49,000 plu miles on it and it runs like a top and used no oil.
It also runs differently after a change and almost every other day....i chalk that up to minor differences in temp/weather/etc...but not to an oil change, i wonder how you would tell how long it runs "better" if you didn't look at the odo and measure?

An oil analysis tells you what condition your used oil is in - what chemicals, elements, acids, lubricants, etc are in it. Its typically used for people looking to extend or accurately change their oil when it is near end of life vs when it is still good and by people that want to ensure they don't have contaminants. You wouldn't do a UOA every oil change, but every few years as your car ages and your driving styles change.

IMO, with 5k annual mileage, a once-a-year oil change with dino oil will be fine for your car and your casual driving style. Anything you do above that is up to you, like synth oil, more frequent changes, but it won't hurt anything on the car, just cost you time an money - maybe worth the trade off for you.

As an aside, considering the Honda oil filter costs around $9, how are you changing your oil for $15 total?
Listen to this guy.
