Hi
I am new on here and would like your opinion on the noise my engine is making.
I have my suspicions but would like your experienced opinions on were i should be going first with it.
I am handy with a spanner and not afraid of taking the engine apart etc to fix it.
at the end of day i didn"t pay much for it and expected to do allot of work on it.
its a 1999 ap1 i have just done a complete fluid change on the engine, gearbox and diff.
there should be a link attached if i have done it right.
thanks

Thought I should add that it doesn't make the noise at enitial start up, just when the engine starts to get warm and the auto choke cuts out.
Any thoughts would be very helpful !

Dude that doesn't sound to good. I'd get a stethoscope, try to locate where noise is originating from the block or cylinder head. The way the video sounds, I think it's in the block possibly rod knock. Good luck

Sometimes a noise is there all the time, but the extra noise of a few extra revs drown it out. I suspect that may account for you not hearing it on cold (higher rpm) idle.
If it is a rod knock, you might be able to save the motor by pulling the rods caps, polishing crank, and replacing the bearings. I understand all this can be down with engine in car.
But continuing to run the engine will quickly cause too much damage and make this no longer an option.

Thanks I will remove the oil pan and have a look what is going on.
I thought rod nock but was hoping that it was some odd noise that is made by something else on these cars. Haha
Will get on with it in the next couple of days and report my findings.
Thanks for finally giving me some thoughts! :-)
