P0302 is cylinder misfire on # 2 cylinder.

Could be your valve retainers. Or a coil pack or an injector.

You can start by swapping two coils from 2 to 3 and put 3 in 2.

Reset the light.

Drive,

When it comes back on, check the code. If it is stil P0302, then it's not the coils!

Process of elimination. This could save MOST enthusiasts headaches and $$$$$. Once the coils are eliminated as the cause, then try the plugs. Most Plugs are pre-gapped (iridium .44). Plugs can usually tell the story if you are fowling on a particular cylinder. Keep this thread posted with your results.

The coils are the rubber piece that go over the spark plug (the rubber piece harness)?

Does this sound like big problem? Whats the warranty with Honda on engine?

Mine is Jun 2006 with 52k miles.

A few months ago, the light lid up and that guy at Pepboys deleted the code with the device (we were not able get the code). He had a bad device.

So this week, after teaching my nephew how to drive a stick, the engine light lid up the next day along with the VSA. Nephew stalled the car over 10 times.

tntrac,

Sounds like you may want to invest in a CODE Reader. Sears has them (usually on sale). This way you can read your own codes and then clear them with out paying a service station to do it. This can also be beneficial when looking at your other family vehicles (providing they are OBD2).

Now, sometimes when the CEL is lit, you may also be in what they call Limp Mode, or like a computer, Safe Mode. This prevents you from damaging any components to the engine before you fix the fault and clear the codes.

If you decide to purchase a code reader (OBD tester/reader), do some research first and then make your decision on the basic or advanced ones.

Cylinder 1 nearest to the driver? Sorry I don't have a manual.

Yesterday I got some stock NGK 7772 laser plugs and out of the box they are gapped at .35

s2k's call for a gapping of .39-.43

Cylinder one is closest to the radiator, then it goes 2, 3 and 4 is right next to the firewall. Also don't stress too much about the vsa light, that is only coming on because of the check engine light. When you fix the misfire issue, the vsa light will go away.

Broken retainers will not cause a CEL. Even if they are serverely broken and getting cut up by the roller, they show no symptoms at all. not even noise.
