Probably weren't 100% familiar with the S2000. Take it back and have them replace the expensive sensor. Make sure they only buy OEM from Honda. Others will NOT work.

That thing is perilously close to the starter bolt, and is made of glass. lol.

The ballade one is useless? In any case, chances are they broke it, I doubt they took it out. The sensor is about $120 shipped, if it was me I would bitch until they took responsibility for their actions.
