Engine knocking at idle only when warm

Did you change the main bearings also or just the rod bearings? Do these engines have cam bearings? or just use the caps I wonder if it could even be a bad piston pin making all that noise?

Also did you check the connecting rods themself to see if theyre not bad? the best thing to probably do like your saying is to probably just rebuild the motor. It would really be crappy it a rod decided to break off randomly and put a hole in your block! If its not your daily driver then i would rebuild it, then you know you have a great motor and will run smooth and quiet

Just use cam caps. And rods and mains were replaced. None of the rods looked bent to me but didn't pull them out as I didn't need to. The car is not my daily so it's not that big of a deal. It was bought as a project car but this knock has got me puzzled. So it looks like I will be rebuilding it unless I can find the cause in the next couple of days. Just sad motor had 55k on it

you wont be able to see if the rod is bad (unless its really bad) but you can check the roundness of the rod circle when the cap is torqued onto it
usually i just take mine to a machine shop and have them checked and re machined if bad. Usually is a rod is knocking, the rod itself will need to be machined if possible. I know some rods cant be machined becuase of the way theyre made, but most can be
