Interesting about the battery. Definitely something to keep in mind. My O2 sensor seems a little slow (through the OBDII readings of the voltage), but the range isn't out of the norm (as backed up by the lack of a CEL). I would like to take a look at a couple of the things brought up here this weekend. I haven't had time lately due to school.

I think I'm going to wind up trying a new O2 sensor. It's probably original, and I'm about to tick over 90,000 miles, so it doesn't owe me anything at this point.

I thought I would come back and report that I installed a new Primary O2 sensor, and it made ZERO difference. The car is behaving just as it did before.

Sorry for my lack of follow-up, school has been hectic lately.

However if this IAC works, I'll have one. What is an IAC? only had the s2k 2 weeks, and been a diesel head for the last 14 years.
IAC is an electronic valve that controls how much air bypasses the throttle plate with the throttle closed (i.e. when at idle). Throttle is closed, but some air is still necessary to maintain idle. Dirty IAC could not be opening/closing properly, and screwing up the air flow.

Not going to lie I didnt read through all the responses, so if this has already been said, i'm sorry. But check if you valve clearances are too loose. If they are the car will hesitate to rev and almost stall. I tightened mine to .022mm on the intake and .026 on the exhaust. Runs perfect now

Car is still VERY loud though

Same problem developing here, cleaned the IAC but no real change. 2001 with 70k miles.

map sensor/clogged map sensor air channel is a more likely culprit on AP1s, not the IAC.
