Engine Doesn't Sound Right
I purchased my s2000 1 year ago. From the start, it was very noisy. I replaced the clutch and TCT (BillmanTCT) and the noise did not go away. When doing a valve adjustment I noticed that on cylinder 3 on the exhaust side one of the valves had something amiss. I took it to one shop to get their diagnosis. I took it to another shop (at the suggestion of some s2k people) to get a second opinion and to get a compression and leak-down test. They said it passed leak-down and compression but one of my valve tips on the exhaust side was worn down and that it could drop a valve anytime. I was moving at the time and decided to pay them the $1600 + parts to pull and machine the head and rebuild it. I put in all-new Honda valves, springs, valve seals, valve guides, retainers, etc (pretty much everything you can replace while doing a head job). After 3 months, a lot of trouble, and another $700 in mystery charges (it was supposed to take 3 weeks but parts took 1.5 months, and then they took another 1.5 months) It still sounds like shit. They wanted to replace the TCT because that's what they said the noise was. I sent a video to Billman and he said that it's not the TCT (I believe him). At this point, I don't trust the shop to touch my vehicle again. If you guys have any ideas on what the noise may be or suggestions on what to do moving forward It would be much appreciated. I've attached 3 sets of videos
- Before the job (speckled valve cover)

- After the job (shiny valve cover)

- My friends after his head job (speckled valve cover but darker lighting)

Have you checked the valve lash? From the sounds of it, it just sounds like the clearance is a bit too loose.
