Thats what so upsetting about the whole incident. He's been driving manual cars for years, and this is my first manual car which I had only been driving for less than a month.

75 mph in 3rd in a 2002 is only about 7500 rpm if the gears are stock. So unless you have aftermarket gears, the story doesn't add up.

no way in hell that engine will blow like that.. i can put my life on it, i drop it from 6th to 3rd all the time when im having fun in the freeway wit my buddies stock gearing i believe 3rd tops out at 90 mph. sorry to say but he drove it like he stole it.. thats why your engine blew.. he owes you a new engine thats the bottom line..

I only let my wife drive my S and she has been driving a stick for 20 years so I know it will be ok. My brother wanted to drive but I told him no F**Kin way.

You should asked him if he had ever driving a close ratio transmission. First I got my S, I always miss shifted since I wasn't use to the short throws

Sounds like he grabbed first instead of 3rd -- if the 75mph is accurate. If the engine won't even turn with a socket on the crank pulley, then it's more than likely toast. I'd pull the head and have a look.

Wow, the spark plug was smashed? Would a valve bend to the point of smacking the plug? That sounds more like an impact from a rod letting go, doesn't it?

Whatever it is it sounds fairly catastrophic. Definitely damage to piston, valves, and head... Hope your BIL is a baller! Good luck...
