Default engine or clutch problem

hello all...hope everyone is having a good new year so far...

i started having this problem a few weeks ago. while i am cruising around at 3000 rpm....im fine...but when i hit the gas...theres a little delay when it picks up speed...i would say 2 seconds maybe...it happens on any gear. but just a few days ago...its back to normal again. Is there something i should be checking or looking for? i am kind of worried that...if it goes back to it...itll get even worse.

TIA

do the RPMS go up and the car doesnt move? Or do you push the gas and it sits there before the car moves.

it starts off fine...while im driving...it lags when i try to go higher on the rpms...lets just say im riding on 35 mph...and i just to gun it to 40-45 mph...it lags for like 2 seconds...then it picks up...its kinda confusing to explain.

try and get it on video. Im confused about what your saying. The engine bogs down for 2 seconds? Or the engine revs up but you dont go anywhere for 2 seconds?

You need to answer the question posted above more clearly.. there are two scenarios that could fall under your description.

1) you press the gas and the RPMs go up, but you do not increase speed for 2 seconds. --> the clutch is slipping.

2) you press the gas and the RPMs DO NOT go up, and you do not increase speed for two seconds. --> eek.

sounds like it. If your clutch is slipping that bad you really woudlnt be moving at all. So your saying your cruising around at 4k rpms. You nail the gas , the RPMS go up to 6k but your speed stays the same? Basically the engine revs but you dont go anywhere?? Correct??

^ it means your clutch is slipping. Mine started doing this, and then a week later it was really bad to the point that I had to park the car til I could get it in the shop for a new clutch.

Figure out where you're gonna take it for the clutch, it'll be gone soon.

had the same problem awile back go to nail the gas or shift hard. say like...your at the top of 2nd gear an shift fast you can feel it slip, rpms go up say like 300rpms not much but then drop 300rpms when clutch finally hooks.my past problem sounds similar to yours replace clutch an everything should be good.

Do the ol' clutch slipping test. Get up to speed, lets say 40-45ish, enter 6th gear and floor it. If the car refuses to accelerate properly, your clutch is on it's last leg. if i'm not mistaken its the pressure plate thats going. You're going to need to resurface the flywheel while you're at it if you don't get it replaced...
