Please note that corrosion is function of time, not miles driven.

Those bolts don't look like they have ever been touched with a wrench.

you cant compare the painted bolts to the non painted. The non painted have corrosion from condensation, likely from the car sitting in a garage/shop for an extended period of time.

if the car runs good, I wouldn't be too concerned

Anyone know where it is? Please help! Thanks!
I don't really remember where I found the number on the engine (years ago) but I do remember that it was off a few from the VIN. I bought my 2000 in 1999 (serial 2067) and know it came from the factory with mismatched numbers.

No serial # on the back of this head, and non on the one I was using.
(yeah... this head can hover upside-down)

My car has a type (VIN) plate with a chassis # and an engine #.
The chassis # is JHMAP1xxxxxxx1790.
The engine # is F20C2-1001388.
Not even close to being the same.
So the engine number needs to match with the one on the VIN plate, not the VIN itself.
That is how it is on my EUDM MY'00 spec car.

This shows where the engine serial # is stamped on.
Its harder to see with the head & intake on.

This is an MY'05 engine so the serial is a lot higher than the original MY'00.
edit: because the 3rd digit in the serial # is a "4" I guess its a MY'04 engine, maybe the car it came out of was first put on the road in 2005 making the seller state it was a MY'05 car... oh well.

Thanks guys, didn't know the some bolts were painted vs non- coated. either way, they wouldn't need to unbolt the head for an engine swap right? so it IS possible, though unlikely they did it with an older engine.

Thanks for putting my mind more at ease tho!
