I see this posted on forums all the time. I used Armor-All on my SHO engine bay the entire 11+ years I owned it and most of the rubber was original from 1995 (I sold it last year), and well...



Also, my dad has been doing the same on his vehicles and he bought one of them new in 1985.

dont put tire shine and all that garbage on engine bay parts. makes it look like crap after a couple drives since the dirt attaches to it. just clean everything with diluted degreaser and a rag.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I saw something called back to black by Mothers, anyone have any doubts about using that on the engine bay plastic parts?

For cleaning I use Adam's APC(all purpose cleaner). Spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes then start brushing any stubborn dirt/grease. Once you're done, rinse it with very light pressure. Then start the car, keep the hood closed and wait for it dry itself. When properly done, you should not have any gray/white spots on your rubbers/plastics. You can follow up with an engine bay dresser of your choice after its fully dried, however as mentioned before if you can find cd2 use that.

Lol no it doesn't. Of all the tires I have owned, all receive tire shine and none crack or dry out lol.

YEARS AGO armour all had issues with that,....like our Grandparents young days. Thats when it was "bad"....but like some things, people dont forget.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm still trying to get my hands on CD2, but it seems very slim at this point. Unless I buy it from EBay for a ridicules price.

I just recently cleaned my engine bay in a sort of haphazard way. Basically some engine degrease and soap/water from hose. Ended up getting some water under the TPS and it was dying when I let off the gas haha. Luckily just blew the water out and its fine now. Was looking to see if the same happened to you.

And tire shine doesnt damage the tire, I mean its rubber for christ sake lol. I worked in a tire shop for years when I was younger and the only negative about it is the techs who are removing it, stuff is sticky and nasty when changing out tires. Think about how much abuse the tires receive compared to applying shine. Personally I dont care for it but still.
