If you are a hobbiest when it comes to detailing and want show car results there are plenty of professional products that will do the job. But if the car is a DD or you just want an easy solution with a simple product that is cheap and easy to get, Lemon Pledge actually works great. Spray on a rag, wipe, done.
Doesn't attract dust, isn't too shiney, lasts a long time. For intracate rubber parts, like the air intake tube, I like to spray it right onto the part, let it sock in, then wipe. Just have to wipe up the overspray too.
I use it on everything under hood. Plastic, rubber, painted metal, etc. Just not on the block itself or the exhaust manifold.

Light hose down after covering alternator. Spray some simple green soliton then agitate the dirtier parts with what ever. Tooth brush works well for tight spots. Then rinse. Allow to dry. Then tire shine spray (foam kind) works great to shine up. I ll try and Dig up some before and after pics of mine; po lived on a farm or something!
