I agree with needing to warm any engine up before rompin' and stompin'. OP, if your '01 has original spark plugs, you might want to replace these. Worn plugs are a common source of cold operation stumbling.

...this is very simple.

To prevent people from harming the engine, the ECU sets a "cold" rev limiter. It's more like 7k RPM, actually. The engine will just stop and force you not to rev that high.

WTF....why would you do this anyway?

To not rev the engine while cold, yes.

That the S2000 has a lower rev limiter when the engine is cold, no.

thats what I thought but apparently not......

I know so many people who just get in their cars and stomp it around like there is no problem...people with other cars than S's.....i let every car i drive warm up before driving it even near hard and it depends on temperature and condition..

also, the motor on the S maybe be warm...but let the tranny warm up as well to get those smooth buttery shifts

naw if it was honda wouldnt need to build idiot proofing into products. this just shows the marvel that is modern technology and how well the products we buy stand up to the the large percent of people who just

get in it and pin it ©

they dont teach common sense in sacool anymore.

Sorry to say guys but 3 bars = not the "go go go" sign for redlining since only the water is at temp then and NOT the oil. Please wait at least 5K miles before the oil is warm enough to harmlessy floor the pedal...
