is that a good idea leaving the ecu fuse out?
Pros:
- ECU resets to baseline mapping everytime you start. For the 02-03 ECU this gives more performance in low-midrange rpms (I have an '02 ecu on an '01 car for this reason). I love it. And the car won't "learn" to compensate for hot-weather and degrade performance.
Cons:
- Since the ECU dies everytime you turn off the car, the headlight reminder doesn't "beep" if you leave your headlights on when you turn off the car. I've been burned once by this because battery was dead when I got back to the car! DOH!
For me, the pro outweighs the cons by about 10x.

The stuff must be able to be pretty much burned as is, because it didn't kill the engine.
They do say be careful not to rev the engine while it's going in, and don't flood it. But you'll see - it can take a LOT of this stuff without stalling.
Interestingly it coughed more when I started the process, and then less as I emptied the can. Based on this, I think that most of the sludge came right off immediately, but I'm not sure.

I did have a bit of trouble because the can wants to be upright, but there's not much room to get the can in there, so I sprayed from a bit of a distance mostly.
Good luck!

how do you know this worked if you leave your ECU fuse unplugged every time you start the car?
in other words, this may not work for people who DONT leave their ECU alone. while this may seem to "temporarily" fix the problem, I think the point xviper was making is that there is a proven technical reason this "bogging" occurs. and it really has nothing to do with building in the intake manifold. I've seen cars with less than 200 miles on them from the factory do this.

The threads I was reading didn't say anything about that.
I see no reason to change the oil however - the oil shouldn't be mixing with the intake mixture.

I have done many butterfly cleanings over the years and it was always recommended to me to change the oil afterwards, but it is your car.
