Early moring Tap Tap
Everytime I start my car in the morning, there is a Tap Tap sound as if my valves needed to be adjusted... but when it warms up, it is pursss nicely... no taps at all.. is this normal?

Likely to be the hydrolic valve lifters, need to get oil presure up to make them work best. Once the oil warms a bit, it flows better, valves move without noise. I wouldn't be too concerned. Did you change your oil recently? what viscosity did you use?

Would it not make more sense that multiple viscosity oil will flow better on a cold engine. After all on a 10-30 weight oil it has a viscosity of 10cps. when it's cold, and as temps. increase so does the viscosity. Right?

I've had a few engines, including one that exceeded 230,000 miles, that tapped until the oil started flowing. It seems worse just after an oil change. I guess the oil has to fill up the new filter before moving on to the rest of the engine.

I get a valve rattle that goes away as it is warmed up. Dealer said that the noise is normal. If I want, the dealer will adjust my valves under warranty. I have 6500 miles and have heard the noise since new. It seems that it is taking longer for the noise to go away as it warms up. I think I will take him up on it.

Try searching because this has been discussed before and is normal. I think it is related to the valve drive mechanism. Another owner on this board had the sound during cold weather and went to complain to his dealer. The dealer took him out on the lot and started up three different brand new S2000s and each had the same noise.
I have the same noise too in cold weather.
