Dyno results with Vortech SC
#11
Actually years ago mfg's used to quote all kinds of hp numbers. They finally settled on Bhp as their measurement. I seem to remember a controvery at the time as to where to measure...maybe some of the really really old guys on here can enlighten you more...

It didn't overpower the dyno, it's just that it seems that in automatic mode it expects a pretty linear power increase, and due to the sudden kick of the VTEC and SC at about 6000RPM it aborted the run.
At least thats what the guy operating it told me, and I was there to witness it myself.
In manual mode we had no probs with the run.

At the end of the day it is at the wheels that counts.
Good on you for going for the SC

Sorry if I missed your previous posts but what was your baseline reading?
I don't think it's fair to just convert kw into hp from different dyno.
For example US dyno has always have higher reading than Australia dynodynamics.
My car is
127rwkw stock
205.5rwkw after tuning with Vortech and VAFC.
Given that US dyno is normally around 190-200rwhp (average 195). So to convert that into hp
205.5* 195/127
=315rwhp
Overall I gained 62% extra power at the wheel with the SC.
I dont think it's fair to compare peak dyno read out anyway It's the gain (in %) that is more important.

I didn't take a base line when stock, I assumed as so many other people had already done that I would assume mine was similar.
On reading many stock dyno's I reckoned about 190 HP at the wheels +/- 5 RWHP, maybe a little more.
Therefor my RWHP increase is 275-190=85 HP
% wise thats 85/190*100=45% increase
I'm not sure how you get to 315 RWHP?
If you were reading 205.5 on the dyno that's nearly exactly the same as mine and which converts to 275 RWHP.

Sorry that is a "corrected" convertion of what the US dyno would read.
It is a little bit easier to compare this way
This conversion avoid the dyno variation confusion. The way it's done is as above.
I did not use the 1.44 hp = 1kw formula as this will only convert what I have in rwkw into rwhp for the dyno that I used. It is then pointless to compare to what other pple have let a lone compare to pple in the US.
Anyway, I don't pay much attention to the dyno comparison. It's the gain that is more important. What other mods have you got in the car? Is it tune correctly? 45% seems a little bit small
