The IDI intake is just like the spoon...I'm sure it helped.

Sure looks like a factory box to me with the IDI in front.
UL opened up the box and did one run to measure the restriction and the IDI did restrict. I'm sorry, I forgot which parameter he measured.

Sideways,

I meant it wasn't the factory box by itself. I didn't think my memory was that bad seeing how I was there.

Brian,

Dynojets, Dynapacks, and Mustang Dynos are different types of dynos. You remove the drive wheels with Dynapacks.

1. 230 hp at 8450 rpm 150 ft lbs at 6340 rpm
2. Superflow chassis dyno
3. Electromotive Tec III, open exhaust with home built header extension, and 2.73 rear end
4. About 160 mph
5. 2002
6. 3rd gear so we didn't overspeed the dyno

I am continually amazed by this motor! Also, there must be an awful lot of power lost in the stock exhaust sytem and/or the stock ECU, and the stock rear end, because we almost always run 220 hp and above without too much effort. And all I've done is dump the exhaust out of basically the stock headers about four feet back from the head, and install a TEC III system to run both ignition and injectors.

Seems like I got about 20-25 hp for about $1800. But I never dynoed the motor with the factory setup.

Ciao,

Jim

Brian: if you can type dynojet on Google, you will learn a lot - Dynojet is an in-ground dynamometer that uses drum rollers connected to inductive resistance "loads", and a series of algorithms under computer-control to analyze the results, graphically depict them, tabulate, etc.

Dynojet measures horsepower to the ground, i.e. losses through the wheels are included. Dynapack measures power at the wheel *hubs* (i.e. you actually remove the wheels and bolt the dyno to the hubs), so it's independent of the wheels, but tends to read 5-8 hp higher on an NA S2K.

I ran mine in 3rd gear and then 4th gear and overlaid the two graphs were almost exactly the same. I was expecting 4th to give higher numbers but found no difference between the two worth mentioning. I thought you guys would want to know.
