Dyno my S2K at 187 whp 127 tq
Today I dynoed my 2002 S2K Bone stock at a performance shop and did 3 pulls. Highest was 187whp in 3rd gear. There was no Fan in front and my hood was open. We let the car cool down for about 20 minutes. No wonder my S2000 feels so slow! I feel so crappy about my car i wanna get rid of it. Is this normal? What should i do to get my whp at 200?

I'm not sure what kind of emissions testing they have in texas, but a test pipe would probably get you to 200hp. I know that some of the atlanta folks can still pass emissions with test pipes.
What kind of dyno was it?

There have been S2000s dynoing close to 210, so does that mean those who dyno at 200 should "get rid of theirs"? Everything is relative.

You're in Dallas man. I'm guessing it's still pretty warm there? Was the test done in a hot/warm room? Every dyno pull and date is relative and depends on the temperature/humidity/test configuration.
Dyno your car again in December with a fan and you'll get much better results. That's why the car seems so fast when you take it out on a clear, cool, and non-humid night.

Something seems pretty goofy. How many miles on this car? What is the compression? Stock is about 225 psi. What is the rear tire pressure? What is your elevation, or are the numbers corrected to Sea Level?
And the temperature comments are relevant. It all adds up. I've seen as high as 215 in these forums. Also the stock ECU/exhaust/whatever is quite restrictive. We've gotten 238 RWHP with an aftermarket ECU plus straight exhaust and VERY high tire pressure. Only driving an alternator BTW. Nothing else hanging off the front and an electric water pump.
Keep checking. These little suckers haul the mail as a rule, so there must be something off kilter.
All the best,
Jim

The room was warm, not cold. It was around low 80's outside and thats cool for texas. Tire pressure was normal around 32psi. 31,000 on the engine. Car was driven for 1 1/2 and cooled down 20 minutes. The guys who dynoed my car didnt really seem to know alot about S2000. They said that 187 is pretty normal.

why didnt the dyno have a fan?
and what are comparable dyno readings for other stock vehicles there?
perhaps theyre dyno gives low baselines, for eg, a stock spyder should give 120 a the wheels, but on that dyno stock spyders make 110.
the adjustment factors may be outta whack on the dyno.

Just as well it didn't make 260WHP otherwise it would have to share your room with you
Seriously I would find another shop to dyno at (with a fan).
I assume the car was in good tune :
o - good oil condition engine/tranny/diff
o - plugs fine
o - fresh gas
o - good battery (minimise electrical load)
o - non slipping clutch
o - cleanish airfilter etc ...
