Yes, in terms of max peak power...as it seems like my car is max power challenged
I do gain a steady 3~5tq through out the powerband and some hp here and there.

This isn't possible. Torque and HP are mathematically linked. For instance, if you gain 1 ft-lbs at 5000 RPMs, then you will have gained .95 HP at 5000 RPMs. If you gain 1 ft-lbs at 8000 RPMs, then you will have gained 1.52 HP at 8000 RPMs. HP = (torque * RPM) / 5252 (I may be a bit off on the 5252).

Hypothetical situations that may help me figure out torque VS hp.

What happens with-

A car with 1000 hp / 250 ft/lbs torque ( A Honda maybe )?

A car with 1000 ft/lbs of torque / 250 hp?

Why can a car with gobs of torque *feel* faster than my car, yet I can keep up with it? Is it because torque doesnt take time to build with RPMs, like hp?

The problem with this hypothetical situation is that you are giving "peak" values at unknown RPMs. For the sake of simplicity, lets assume that the torque is constant from 0 to redline, which means peak HP will be at Redline. In this case, the 1st car will have to have a 21K RPM redline (F1 car). The 2nd car would have to have a 1300 RPM redline (Diesel truck).

The reason why some cars "feel" faster than others, when they really aren't is due to the rate that the power builds. The S2000 builds power slowly over a wide RPM range. A Mustang builds power quickly over a short RPM range, then it drops off quickly. The total "area under the curve" will be similar for both.

I agree. I wish I could've got my A/F curve that flat.
Key:
Blue = Baseline
Red = Toda cams and Port & Polish
Green = AEM CAI & VAFC
