Anyways, it must suck bad, if he is your close friend.
I don't think i can say much to my friend if he is close one. Well shit happens and people make mistake, some are more knowledgeable and some are not.

But yes, you should get full story from him i think.

Engine takes 5.7qts. He added 6 qts. Almost 12 quarts of oil in the engine. Oil probably filled the combustion chamber when you tried to start it. Lawnmower noise was probably a rod bending. If it wont turn with a wrench at the crankshaft; then internal's are most likely damaged.

That would sum of what I'd guess pretty nicely. The clicking but not turning over is the sound of the combustion chamber filled with oil or a rod bent and stuck.

I suspect this guy did something else to the engine and tried to cover it or maybe even 'fix' it.

My guess is, the car was low on oil when the roomate drove the car, then subsequently, the engine developed a knock, and then the roomate tried to fix it by adding the oil as well as the oil treatment.

In any case, it is the the owners fault for operating a vehicle that was so low on oil that it caused an engine failure regardless of who was driving when the failure occured.

to the roomate for trying to fix something that should have been looked at by a proffesional mechanic.

Or maybe the roomate mis-shifted the car and caused major engine damage as a result

That would explain the engine sounding like a lawnmower.
