because of cost and people may not be smart enough to use a system like this. also cars been wound and last a long time even without a system like this

Its a good idea, but mostly is used on big engines more so than on smaller ones. Like big generators, marine engines and OTR tractors trucks, earthmovers, aircraft powerplants. Any expensive engines that need to last a long time. I would like one on all my cars too

A bypass filter is an "extra" filter that takes some (roughly 10% in my case) of the oil and passes it through a very thick "depth filtration" media. This filter removes most particulates above around 1 micron in size, while a regular full flow filter (like the Honda PCX) filters down to around 10 to 15 microns. Over time all oil eventually gets filtered through the bypass filter, so the oil stays very clean.
