okay I did what you said...the car still throws the code

is it bad to drive the car right now or is this problem harming the engine somehow even with everything hooked up correctly? i'm going to re do the air pump and make sure everything is good.

is something hooked up wrong or what?

i took apart the entire pump assembly and reconnected everything. i also checked every other connection in the engine bay associated with vacuum/air pump/air control for any loose connections or kinked wires - none found. i still am throwing the code and i am not sure why.

my orange pump wire is tapped onto the white/red wire of the air pump. my pump works just fine when i switch the ignition on, so this cant be in the wrong place could it?

anyone help me i want to drive this car with no engine light.

I just installed my comptech SC and the car drives fine and it isn't in limp mode (hehe).. I ran modifry's DTC tester and it's 8 long blinks and 3 short blinks .. which isnt listed on his web page. The closest autozone is 30 minutes away and the prick at kragen wanted to charge me $40 to get the code even though its his own tool... which i actually agreed to but he kept helping other customers so i walked out after waiting 15 minutes.

anyone know what this code is? on modifrys site he has 8-4 listed as air valve low voltage but i'm 8-3 not 8-4... is it closely related?

edit: in an old search i found :

DTC 8-3 - internal failure of SRS unit

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=239340

not quite sure where this fits in..
If it is an SRS DTC, the SRS light blinks out the code. The same goes for ABS and EPS DTC's. If the CEL blinks out the DTC then it is looked up normally. If any of the other lights blinks out the code then the DTC is looked up in seperate ABS, SRS, or EPS DTC table\list.

Almost forgot....clear the code, then turn the key on, DO NOT start the engine. Check for a code without running the engine.

Pull the no.25 (7.5amp I think) "backup" fuse from the cabin fusebox for 60 seconds, then replace it.
EDIT: Oops, if you already reset the ECU, sorry for redundancy.

Are you 100% sure the blink code is 83? With this type of issue, it is best to get a code reader and get the actual PXXXX code.

White/red wire is correct. Just be sure the wire has power, even with the key off.

Now...make sure the white wire (Comptech wire) is only powered with the key on.

one question, is it unsafe to drive the car or is this something minor?

It won't hurt the car or engine, IF you're pulling codes correctly. However, there's a small chance you'll damage tha air pump, then you'll never get rid of the light. Air pump is pretty expensive, I think around 400 bucks.

is that aftercooler pump plugged into the right or left side of that air pump assembly.

I found out on mine that either one hooked up and the pump will still work because the pump is getting its power from that white wire.

You could be drawing power the wrong way or adding it
