I'd pull the trans then remove the fill plug and shake. Eventually the piece will come out and you won't have to split the case on the trans.
I actually did something something very similar about 10 years ago on a Integra. I was installing a header and fluid changes on a 94 GSR. The fill plug out on the trans, and I was putting removed bolts on the cowl. A bolt fell off the cowl and managed to ring the fill plug, right in the trans.
You could throw bolts at the fill plug and not duplicate this 1 in a million shot. I had to pull the trans, shake to get the bolt out.
Good thing on it only added about 2 hours to the job. I wish Honda built cars like the 94-01 Integra again.... So friendly to work on under the hood.
