just a thought;
How about a little tube that sucks air (vacuum with little hose). You could maybe catch it after seing where it is with the borescope?

I used to work on my friend's cars all the time and we'd always lose and find tools in the engine bay... Best thing we found was an entire breaker bar...

That is actually a pretty decent idea! I would imagine if you got one with a good amount of suction (like a dentist tool type thing) you would stand a pretty good chance of getting it.

little different, and off topic, but i dropped a small screwdriver into my engine bay about half a year ago and it was never seen again, i was parked in a driveway and it didnt fall thru, i ran over speed bumps in a sub division to try to knock it out and everything, looked around for it for an hour. Never found it

sounds like you are gonna have to take the plunge in one direction or the other. drive it and hope it gets ripped to shreds, or disassemble the whole thing just to pull out that little piece.

Is there not something there to keep stuff out?? If not I would think that you would have issues with metal shavings getting in there?
