One of the little tabs that holds the filler neck on my trans fluid pump broke off, and I thought it went into my trans. Fortunately I found the tab next to my ramp and saved myself from having a heart attack. Sorry to hear you're going through this - hope it ends well for ya.

If that little plastic thing got chewed up and got sucked into the pump, kiss your tranny bye-bye.

Is there not something there to keep stuff out?? If not I would think that you would have issues with metal shavings getting in there?

sucks.
I went through something similar on my LT camaro. I lost a plastic sensor tip inside...not really sure if it wa sthere in the first place. ran it 10K miles after that, no shards came out, no probs at all, actually. Ran like a champ til I sold it.

Are you ready for this? There is a fair sized magnet on the inside wall of the casing. Or would you like to call me on this one, too?
To the OP:
Sucks to hear man, most of the biggest jobs come from the smallest/stupidest mistakes. Good luck getting it out...
Was the piece small enough to easily fit through the drain hole?

The OP dropped a piece of plastic in there... So a magnet is useless.

little different, and off topic, but i dropped a small screwdriver into my engine bay about half a year ago and it was never seen again, i was parked in a driveway and it didnt fall thru, i ran over speed bumps in a sub division to try to knock it out and everything, looked around for it for an hour. Never found it
