IMHO, they're all about the same. Don't expect to be able to tell improvement from a clean stock filter either. They do benefit you in the long run in terms of maintenance costs since they are cleanable and re-usable. FWIW, I use a Comptech filter and there was no significant difference between it and the stock filter on the dyno.

Looking at cost, K&N is the best way to go.

Go here: http://www.knfilters.com/online.htm

I just ordered one from AJUSA for $45 shipped. Martel Brothers also had that same price. The part number is E-2435 for the filter. You may want to order the Cleaner Kit (part # 99-5000).

The Comptech is $69 (www.comptechusa.com) and the JR is around $60. Not including shipping or a cleaner kit. The Comptech says it needs to be cleaned every oil change, and there have been fitment issues w/ the JR.

There has been lots of discussion on performance, but I think gains are too small (if any) to be really noticed from runs on a dyno (like CoralDoc mentioned above).

comptech is foam, so less filtration. i am running the dry aFe filter (similiar to AEM dryflow) and like it because i do not have to worry about oiling it.

i chose to go the aFe route because i was quite disappointed in the lack of filtering media in the air filter that i bought for my CRX a couple years ago. the aFe filter does cost about twice what K&N filters go for though, just as a heads up.
