Most likely wheel bearings.
(Changing diff bearings is going to take a LOT more time and money)
Driving for 35k miles (or km?) without the updated axle nut torque is your cause.
Honda changed it for a reason.
I would make sure they used the proper diff oil.
"spare additives" sounds a bit scary
