Default droning cat-back aftermarkert exhaust

I just put a CompTech cat-back exhaust on my 2005 S-2000 and enjoy the sound mostly. But it drones or vibrates through much of the RPM power curve. Is this normal and can I decrease it? CompTech says eventually they will have an insert that will reduce the drone but I wonder if it will also reduce the good sound and also reduce some power gains. This is my first post here so excuse me if it is too long or in the wrong place. Love my Honda S-2000!

All aftermarket exhausts drone to some extent, with different rpm ranges and different levels of irritation. I have never seen an add-on that results in a substantial reduction. I have switched exhausts twice because of drone and if I had to do alot of highway driving I would probably go back to the stock system.

the fujitsubo and the Tanabe exhaust do not drone at all... the loudest point is when your accelerating in low RPM ranges 1K-3K after thatn it's basically gone. When you step on it it's mildly there. Decel any thign below 4K you will get the same thing.

I drove my car 50 miles a day all highway and it does not have any drone. idle it's perfectly quite, only when your accelerating.

i have the Tanabe because it fits my car (06) but the Fuji is allot more tamer than the tanabe.

Let me guess, you're getting the noise at around 3K rpm in higher gears. Usually gets less around 3600 rpm. I have learned to control it with the pedal. It was really bad when I first installed it. Once I added the headrest speakers and I could still hear the radio it became much more tolerable. On the stock exhaust system Honda installed a 6" stub of pipe in the mid section of the system. This was placed there to eliminate the harmonics. The aftermarket systems don't have this. I have thought about adding one to the Comptech system. I talked to Comptech about a month ago they said then they were going to have a silencer like for the AP1 systems. They don't have it yet. If you have to go on a long drive, you can stick it in and remove it when you get there.

The drone is alot of the resonance of the body itself. If you sound deaden the body, it will improve alot.
