Drivetrain Issues
Posted Yesterday, 12:50 PM
A couple of weeks ago Evasive Motorsports installed spoon 4.44 gears, spoon LSD, and a spoon diff up kit. Once everything was done I needed to break everything in by doing number 8 figures for at least 30 to 40 minutes. I have done this as of last week and have driven the car regularly for at least 150miles. Evasive told me that once I had everything broken in I had to take the car back so that they could change the gear oil. The car still makes a very weird sound as soon as I make a right hand turn on every corner, the noise was also their when I used take off from first to second gear but after breaking the drivetrain it has gone away except for when I turn right. Has any one had this problem before? If so how did you fix it? Thanks in advanced.

Maybe you might want to consider your axle nut as being a potential source. Have you fixed your axle nut? There is a axle-nut TSB. Apparently all S2000's from 2000 to 2009 (I think) have axle nuts that are not tight enough from the factory. Billman chimed in on a few threads about this. The updated torque spec for the axle nut is 220ft/lbs. The correct way to do this is to unstake the axle nut, remove the axle nut, clean both the axle nut and the axle threads of debris, apply wheel bearing grease to the FACE of the axle nut you just removed (NOT the threads), reinstall the axle nut and torque it to 220ft/lbs. I did this over this past weekend. So far the noise (a click best heard when starting off in 1st gear, sometimes 2nd) is now gone. I hope it stays gone. I've heard of others reporting that the sound came back after awhile. Hope it stays gone. Look into it man.
