Just for reference mine started vibrating at 30k, installed spacers went away and now its back at 45k. So I got another year out of my axles with the spacers now I'm going to swap CV buckets but thinking if I should run the spacers or not hmm.

I have swaped the cups and the problem with vibration is gone during accleration. However i get the vibration when i am breaking hard on the gears (logical becouse it hits the old pittings like reversing in high speed), so i will go for spacers also to remove this problem also.

I would suggest using a thread lock on those bolts because one day my entire axle almost came off. Four of the six bolts were missing and I made sure to tighten those down to perfect spec in a correct sequence.
Also with the 1 piece spacer....could you just run them through a ban saw and make install time 10x easier??
Which spacers did you use?

A member from the Aus forums had a problem with the T1r's where the bolts were 9mm versus the OEM 10mm which allowed it to shake loose.

I bought Megan spacers for like 90 bucks(two piece). Took an almost 2 hours to put on because my bolts were rusted. After install the vibration is gone. Beware that if your car has A LOT of vibration the spacers may not work(too much wear already).

Great thread this!

Negcamber, my mate is arguing til he's blue in the face that I need driveshaft spacers or im cutting corners. I understand the concept and have the technical ability to swap the cv buckets myself.

So, my question is - if I can do it am I wasting money or do the spacers really save wear?

I personally can't see how they would as the wear spot is just in a different place, deeper or shallower inside the cv bucket. Am I correct in my thinking?

I just lowered my 06 about 1.25" on Eibachs (rated for 1" but I got more for some reason). Have about 500 miles on them. I have zero vibration when accelerating, but the rear feels squirrely cornering somewhat hard on freeway ramps--almost like it's wiggling a little even under uniform steering input. Do you guys think this is due to the driveshaft issue or just because lowering springs are cosmetic and disrupt the suspension geometry?

Should I buy the spacer as a preventative measure?

If you didn't get an alignment after lowering the car, your toe and camber settings have changed.
