I was checking on my driveshafts and the manual states to "turn the driveshaft by hand and make sure the splines and joint are not excessively loose". But how much play is considered excessive?
My passenger side driveshaft seems to have more play than the driver's side if I pull and push the shaft along its length. There is no play in any other direction. If, indeed, there is too much play, does the driveshaft need to be replaced or can it be adjusted?
I'd appreciate any input from people who have experience with this. For those who have replaced their driveshafts, what was your S2K's mileage? I currently have 53.5K miles.

The only concern one would have with respect to driveshaft excessive play due to wear would be radiallly not axially. axial play is preset and would remain constant. Also I'm not sure if the manual spec the OP was reading concerned the driveshaft from the tail of the tranny to the differential or the axle shafts. If one wasn't experiencing any driveline symptoms and all of the cv boots looked good,I wouldn't be concerned. So far as axial setup specs go ,I have no clue what the manual calls for.
