To safely use a Race harness, you'll need a Rollbar. It will cost more than the stock belt. I'd look in the FS forum and post in the WTB forum.

When you get another belt, remember to hold it in the same orientation as the belt is when mounted, and it will pull out.

When I replaced the soft-top frame and soft-top on my car I had the same problem after re-installing all roll hoops. I realized that I somehow managed to wrap the driverside seatbelt around one of the roll hoops bar when re-installing it, so when I tried to pull the seat beat it would not work properly.

I'm not sure if this happened to you while re-installing the roll hoops, but do you think there is a possibility that the seatblet got tangled up around one of the roll hoop bars when you were putting everything back together? If so, then you'll have to do what I did and uninstall everything to unbolt the driverside roll hoop so you can untangle the seatbelt

Well, I took it in this morning. Service guy looked surprised when I handed him the tensioner mechanism (can't get it back in anymore). He told me that he isn't sure if recall will come into play since I had removed. I told him that it wasn't working and that I stopped taking things off once I got to the "do not tamper" sticker. It will be interesting to see what they do.. I did get a ride in the shuttle van from a driver who knows of a good place to buy parts for a 74' Nova (thanks, man) tho.
Anyone have any advise on how to handle the service tech if he calls and tells me "no dice" on recall work???? Usually, ust being nice and respectful goes a VERY LONG WAY, but not sure if that will work in this instance.

If there truly is a recall on that item, and it hasn't yet been performed on your car, then I don't see how they can legally refuse to replace it. They would have to replace the recalled item whether it was working or not.

If they say they won't do it for free, you should call AHM and ask them about it.

You are a good man. I like your thinking!!!! You should be a service writer.
Hopefully, the dealer will like your thinking as well. If not, I will call AHM and see what they say.

Dude, take it like a man. You broke it, take the responsibility of buying a new one.

Nobody is suggesting that he try to pull a scam here. If there is a recall on that item, AHM should be willing to perform the recall whether he screwed the old one up or not.
