so my driver light fuse keeps poping. i have cheacked the radio, headlights and the whole front end. so i said screw it and i put a 20 amp fuse into the slot, and every started working like normal. but the gauge cluster back light doesnt work. i saw some smoke come out of it, so i guess the gauge cluster is the problem the whole time.
so my question is what should i do now? should i just take the 20 amp out and put a 10 amp in it? i believe the gauge light are blown.. there is no more back light on the lcd i need some advise on what i should do, thanks for looking!

the icons on the bottom of the gauge cluster still works but the temp, gas, rpm and the mph light does not work, but i do see the images

Have you installed any mods (lights, electrical) recently? Rain recently?

it did rain yesterday (when the problem started happening) but its dry today. and i have no electrical problems in the past until today

Ok so we can assume its rain. Idk on S2000s but on BMWs rain usually got between the windshield and the seal where the wipers are. One way I've seen people snake out a leak is a smoke test in certain areas. I wouldn't suggest using water (duh) so now that its dry its still doing the same?

it is still doing the same thing. i believe the cluster is fry'd because when i plugged in a 10 amp fuse and i turned on the lights, i saw some white smoke come out of the clusters. what should i do? relace it? and if i do replace it what am i going to do with the orginal miles? i currently have 30k on my03 and i dont wanna get a cluster and bring it up to a 90k miles.

Hmm wasn't aware the mileage is saved in the cluster. On BMs you can plug any cluster in and it sets mileage from 1 of 4 locations like ECU. But anyhow, I would get down and look for wiring, circuits, or anything with corrosion, rust, or burn marks first. I assume after plugging in a 10A fuse it pops afterwards?

nope the 10 amp fuse stayed alive. now the cluster is going hay wire!

I'd check just for safe measure.. Before investing in a cluster. Maybe visit a shop who specializes in finding shorts.

i was wondering, is there any relays inside the cluster?
