Draining oil with the nose up

Draining oil with the nose up
I have a set of car ramps and I've always wondered if it is a good idea to do an oil change if the rear is on the ground and the front is on ramps. I've never done it before because it seems like oil would get trapped on the far side of the pan, but it is a pain in the butt to jack up the rear to get the car level. What are your opinions?

I'm not worried about it. Ideally I'd like to do the correct way, I was just wondering if there are any large objections to do it with the nose up.

Nope...it's ok.
Just use the ramps on a downhill slope.Depending on the slope,it might be fairly close to level.
No big deal either way.....at most you might leave 1/8 of a QT in.

Sometimes I will do both the engine oil and trans oil together. Since that is the case, I jack up the car on one side with two jack stands on one side to drain the trans. Then lower that side and jack the other side to drain the engine oil and fill the trans. Doing it that way only allows me to access the oil filter from the top of the car. Doing it this way also allows me to get 2 full quarts into the trans!

I have done just nose up changes, but usually do a full oil swap every other time (gearbox and diff) so the car is up and level. There's not to much that remains in the sump when 'nose up'
