Hey guys just tried to fix my dome light.

Initial Problem: One interior light would work randomly, seemed like there was poor contact because the one light would work if you gently wiggled the OFF/DOOR/ON slider.

So I read this DIY and ordered two new OEM light bulbs. The contacts were green and I cleaned them with a wire brush. Put everything back. Now there is no lights at all.

I have tried to move the lights around to see if maybe the light bulbs were polarized, they are not. I played around with how tight the two bolts on the back of the connector are.

The only thing my AP2 dome light does not have is two springs under the copper contacts on the underside of the slider.

Question: Are those two missing springs the culprit? If so anyone know where I can get those springs?
Anyone have any idea's on where to start troubleshooting?

First off big thanks goes to BVDZ for helping me with this problem.

Answer: YES you do need those springs.

I sacrificed a clicky-gel pen. Took the spring out and bam, let there be light.

This was a huge help, great write up! My dome light was coming on by itself with the doors closed, cleaning the contacts did the trick, thanks guys!

Thank you for this DIY! It's nice having my dome light back. Just another tip I actually used WD40 and a simple wire brush to clean my contacts. The WD40 works as a solvent and cleaned the corrosion right up.

Great writeup!

If you don't have a wire brush, you can use the eraser on the end of a pencil to clean the contacts--- it's abrasive enough to get the corrosion off and will make them look like new.

Somehow, the slider switch on my unit is completely missing, but the lights come on when the doors open. I know the entire unit was removed a few years ago from when I got the hardtop put on for the first time. We had to change out the strikers to take on the hard top and from that day on, the slider switch is MIA. Honda only sells the lens and the entire unit as replacement parts, so I picked up one from someone parting out their car. This weekend, or before, I'll do the swap. This thread is very helpful.
