Default doesnt wanna rev beyond 7k rpms!

i switch the car on, CEL comes on after 2-3seconds, but idle is fine and everything ok. i get moving, hit the throttle and when it hits around 7k+ rpm, it stops like a fuel cut: and this is if i go WOT. if i baby it, it reaches the top.

the CEL codes registered are not found in the manual, so my mech give spoon a call and states 99octane is the recommended fuel to use. but can lack of octane(i use 95) cause the engine to fuel cut at a certain rpm? need help badly...

any comments would be much appreciated. TIA

I ran a spoon ecu in my AP2 for a short while on 93 octane and had no problem running it out to redline, so you've got some other issue going on

is it used? if so maybe its tuned funny, check the fuel map to see if it cuts fuel wot at 7k, and doesn't cut it at lower throttle levels.

I think that the octane rating has nothing to do with your problem. I do believe, however, that 95 is insufficient for any S2000. You should be up around 98 or 99 Research Octane, I believe. Check your owner's manual.
