it's not enough to let the engine warm up

gently drive the car to 'warm it up' because you need to warm up your gearbox/diff/drive train before u start hammering it.

why the hell would you floor it on a cold engine, tranny, and diff.. stop abusing your car. I drive a minimum of 8 miles before I even break 4k rpm.

thats a little much IMO. my work is only two miles away. i live near a golf course with a winding road so a lot of times i'll take that one just to extend the drive and have a little fun.

Just use common sense. Dont hit Vtec backing out of your driveway or anything like that. different people have different opinions, some say you dont want it idle for too long its better to warm it up with easy driving, i for one use the 2 bar followed by easy driving till up to temp method.

Do what you want, but I think the owner's manual states that you don't need to (or it might say you *shouldn't*) let the car idle to warm up. Just drive it easy (like a normal car) until oil temps are up.
