If you like the cover off sound, get the KN FIPK. It gives you all the sound plus less heat soak

sounds cool with the cover off but my car ran much worse like that, do as listed above if you want the best of both worlds in the long term.

why cover off will make the car run worse? you mean slower?
and i more question, how often do i need to clean the filter? i live in s. cali

The car will run slower due to higher intake air temps.

I usually clean mine with oil changes, it probably isn't needed that much but it isn't going to hurt it. When you clean it be cautious to not over oil your filter. Follow the instructions closely or you will mess up your O2 sensor.
