I was thinking about that. The stock system doesn't use a hose clamp and the filter should be green.

Yup! Plus, the ends are metal on the filter shown. The OEM is plastic ends.

Get a filter you trust and dont worry about it. Some say KN doesnt filter enough, others say it doesnt matter. I personally use a KN filter.

I wouldn't bother with a K&N in the OEM box. You're not going to accomplish anything. I'd personally research intakes and make the upgrade.

If you plan to stay stock, just get a new oem filter, and change it out every 30k or so, and you'll be good to go!

But if you want delicious delicious induction noise, get a KN FIPK and call it a day. it is amazing to hear, plus when you're not on throttle its as quiet as a stock s2k

That is a K&N drop in filter, it doesn't get replaced it gets cleaned and re-oiled if you intend on keeping it. I would definitely vacuum it out from the outside surface looks like it has lots of crap on it. If you plan on keeping it you should learn how to clean it and get a K&N cleaning kit to service the filter. Otherwise get yourself an oem green filter like shown above and replace it every 30,000 miles (that would be my preference if you use the factory air box). The oem filter will do a better job of filtering dirt and dust, the K&N may flow a bit better if that is important to you.

I don't think it's a K&N. Looks like some cheap a$$ knockoff to me. I wouldn't be surprised if the end caps don't even seal. The K&N filters are white, they will be whatever color you use to oil them. If you use a K&N cleaning kit then yes the filter will be red, but if you use some other cleaning kit they could be any color and still be a K&N filter.
