the 2.2 has only one purpose: user friendly s2k for lazy americans that would like to have the S with a 4gear automatic to avoid any downshifting. It's sad but true. And I bet in the 2005 model you guys will get another 4 cup holders and an additional donut holder plus a hot dog stand:O)))

Aus doesn't get 2.2L.

Why? Because we don't need it!

Europe has same displacement taxes + ridiculous gasoline taxes, which explains the large number of sub 2.0L turbodiesels and the reason that the bottoms of your Levis are black after walking around the streets of London or Paris. One of my Euro friends told me that taxes on anything over 2.0L gets expensive.

As far as you crazy Australians, who knows, I always sort of figured that you guys would basically get JDM cars anyway because of your proximity to Japan.

I hear Greece has the 2.2L. That's it besides US/Canada.

So you've been here!

Unfortunately we don't get all the JDM cars even though we are also RHD. We have very strict design rules, emissions standards, and tariffs that limit to some degree what we get.

That said, we have had the WRX since 98 and the majority of cars on our roads are Japanese.
